TOOL: This is a typebar/keylever 3-prong pliers. It is a typewriter repair tool advertised in the AMES typewriter tools catalog under tool number ST9029.
USAGE: It is used for adjusting and reforming the typebar to fix individual characters (letters) out of alignment. It can either help adjust printing on paper, fix light print of individual characters and fix typebars getting stuck (not returning to original position after striking).
We use it often in our typewriter repair workshop to align characters.
This tool comes from the Olympia Wilhelmshaven factory in Germany which has been closed down for many decades.
